Harwood in Ivory

The Brief

The clients’ brief was for a classic-painted kitchen that was designed for modern living to suit the architecture of their home, which featured a recently added extension. They were keen to have an understated, yet elegant look that would be the cnetre piece for an open-plan living kitchen. With two young children and a dog, the kitchen needed to be hard-wearing and easy to keep clean.

The in-built chopping board on the island makes the perfect prep space, and this kitchen features lots of storage to hide everything away when it's not in use.

“We’d looked at lots of different kitchens styles until we found one that was right for our family. We were wanting an open-plan kitchen that would be hard-wearing enough to cope with two small boys, and a dog, but would offer the traditional country look that we were after.

The main feature of the kitchen is definitely the island, it has tonnes of storage and we’re always getting compliments on the wine rack too! It’s the perfect place to sit and have a quick breakfast and the integral chopping board is an ideal prep area for cooking. We like to think of it as a ‘party kitchen’ as we have lots of space and love having our friends and family over.

When we saw the Harwood range from Laura Ashley kitchens, we knew it was the one for us. We wanted something quite neutral in terms of colour so we could add splashes of colour with our decoration. They had lots of feature units available, like the glass-front cabinets and open shelving, and as well as offering lots of extra storage. It also fits our traditional country theme perfectly!

The Laura Ashley name was the icing on the cake really. We knew we were going to get a high quality kitchen as soon as we saw it!”
